What Are The Main Symptoms Of Obesity And What To Do About It
Have you ever wondered if you are truly obese or overweight? Of course, we all could stand to lose a few pounds, but at what point does it become a health risk?
It’s pretty obvious, but intake of food in important to live. Our bodies naturally burn the calories we take in. However, there are times when we consume more than we can burn and that is when problems begin and fat retention kicks in.
There are other reasons why an individual’s body might retain fat. Some people have a larger appetite than others. Their bodies urge them to eat all the time. For others, their bodies do not efficiently convert food to energy. They are more likely to convert the food they eat to fat. This is known as a slow metabolism.
In addition, scientific studies show that many people are prone to gaining weight due to heredity.
If you have a predisposed gene to obesity, that does not mean you have to lay down and take it!
The first thing you should do is reduce your risk. Some types of food, such as carbohydrates, are turned into energy more quickly than other types of foods, such as fats. A beneficial diet high in carbohydrates would consist of cereals, breads, fruits, and vegetables.
Second, a person can choose a lifestyle that will help burn up excess calories. Don’t be a couch potato. If you have to, get a job that makes you move around constantly. This will help keep you in shape with out you realizing it.
Obesity can be caused by other factors as well. For example, a person may feel depressed (see depressive disorders entry) or have a low self-image. In response to those feelings, the person may eat more than his or her body really needs. The excess calories are converted to body fat.
Once you actually become obese or severely overweight, your metabolism slows down, making it tougher to lose the fat. As a child, excess calories are converted into new fat cells. Those fat cells remain in the child’s body throughout life. In adulthood, excess calories simply cause existing fat cells to get larger. What this means is that obesity in childhood is big problem that is tough to overcome.
The best way to combat obesity is to work out as often as possible. In addition to finding a job that makes you move around during the day, you may want to invest in some quality fitness equipment like MBT Shoes of Fit Flops. Whatever you do, get onto a plan now. If you think you have a weight problem that you can’t control, see your doctor immediately to turn yourself around!
